The glacier tours

As soon as the first lasting rays of sun pierce the clouds, glacier signs spring up around the city. The Chess Hotel team courageously decided to put some of these establishments to the test to provide you with better advice!
The glaciers : the Classics
First, we honour the older houses like A la Mere de Famille whose story began in 1761 at 35 rue du Faubourg Montmartre. The oldest chocolatier in Paris now presents its new ice cream collection: peach, passion-pear, wild strawberries and a whole range with real fruit pieces.
Truly delightful! Le Bac à Glaces (109 rue du Bac) specialises in "old-fashioned ice cream and fine sorbets". Blackberry, blueberry, rhubarb, mango, as well as some which are more unusual but equally divine like matcha green tea, eau-de-vie kirsch, chestnut, and prune.
Enjoy a short break in Provence with Scaramouche (22 rue Vieuville aux Abbesses). This popular glacier treats us to ice cream with honey and thyme, rosemary - pine nuts - olive oil, or geranium pistachio.
And finally, off to Italy with Grom (81 rue de Seine or 16 rue Vieille du Temple) for mouth-watering displays of Griffoni hazelnut and Sicilian cassata!
The glaciers : the most original
Fans of originality will love Glazed (54 rue des Martyrs) where they can sample ice cream with black charcoal, Ribot-lemon-citronella milk, or pepper caramel.
In addition to apricot or muscatel, Fabien Foenix (6 rue Descombes) offers exciting flavours like robust brown whisky, delicate litchi-rose petal or tantalising avocado guacamole.
Enjoy the fragrance of Asia with floats at La Tropicale (180 bd Vincent-Auriol). On the menu: matcha-soy, orange blossom-pistachio, date-nut, Marie-Galante chocolate.
Lastly, Spaghettina (61 rue de Lancry) - an ice-cream specialty that, despite its name, is German! Try fresh and delicious flavours like Mirabelle plum, tangerine or strawberry in 'spaghetti' form on Chantilly cream – a splendid combination!
