The magic of the Grand Palais des Glaces

Well known for its fabulous exhibitions such as the current one featuring the work of Toulouse-Lautrec, the Grand Palais reveals its playful side each year as Christmas approaches. For the fifth year in a row this amazing building has become the Grand Palais des Glaces, with a gigantic indoor ice rink. Don’t miss the fun during your stay at the Chess Hotel Paris.
Skating at the Grand Palais des Glaces
A ten-minute Metro ride or a pleasant walk of less than 30 minutes through one of the loveliest parts of Paris takes you from your Chess Hotel to the Grand Palais and the splendour of its characteristic late 19th century architecture. For a few weeks from December 13th to January 8th, this iconic monument’s magnificent glass roof shelters an ice-skating rink of 3,000 m² that opens from 10:00 to 02:00. There’s no need to bother about bringing your skates as rental is included in the price of admission!
Whatever your skating mood…
If you’re visiting the capital with your family, opt for one of the day slots from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 19:00. Due to the abundance of natural light, it’s almost like skating in the open air. What’s more, you can take regular breaks for ‘refuelling’ at the pop-up snack bar where hot chocolate and various tasty treats await the weary skater. However, from 20:00 the ambiance changes dramatically as the rink becomes a giant dance floor. A DJ sets the tempo and colourful lights and mirror balls are reflected by the ice. It’s time for an magical night of fun!
